Hello everyone, I’m Vicki Davis a/k/a Cool Cat Teacher and I live in Camilla, Georgia in Southwest Georgia and teach at Westwood Schools. Blogging is amazing in that it has brought together some educators from around the state who probably never would have met. As we blog we learn that we have more in common than we realize. As we share our photographs, we become even more alike. I love the state of Georgia and hope to share my corner with you. I respect my fellow contributors and am humbled that they would consider me worthy of inclusion.
About Me
I’m a home grown Georgia girl from rural southwest Camilla, Georgia. I grew up on a farm amidst everything from cattle to soybeans and corn (no tobacco.) After graduating from Westwood Schools in Camilla, Georgia and earning the title of 1987 “Georgia Peanut Princess” from the Georgia Peanut Commission I went off to Georgia Tech in Atlanta to study business.
After four years of business school, I went on to graduate first in my class from GT (pretty good for a country girl) and got into telecommunications in 1991 in the GTE Marketing Associate Development Program just as cell phones were getting hot. I lived in Buckhead and then Peachtree City after I got married.
By 1994 I was the General Manager of a cellular telephone MSA in Albany GA and managed 13 counties before I became a stay at home Mom. (I loved it but didn’t have time to raise my kids with 10 hour work days!) I have three beautiful kids and a great husband. After starting my own website design and adult training business, I began to teach for colleges and train teachers how to effectively use technology in the classroom.
My children called again and I signed on as the computer science teacher and jack of all trades at Westwood Schools, my alma mater. I love dogs, cats, the outdoors, gardening, cooking, reading, blogging, computers, teaching, the country, Georgia, and people in general. I also love photography and writing!
