Deer at Berry College

Here are a couple of photos my dad took recently. The deer at Berry aren’t too afraid of people, as the campus is a deer sanctuary.

Henry Ford and Berry College

Martha Berry was able to convince Henry Ford to visit Berry College. He was so impressed that he became one of the college’s greatest benefactors. Here are some of the buildings that are part of the Ford Complex at Berry.

“Not to be Ministered Unto, but to Minister”

That is the motto of Berry College, and it was how Martha Berry lived her life. Her grave is on the campus right next to the college chapel, and there is an eternal flame for all to see.

The Three Rivers of Rome

From the left comes the Etowah. From the right comes the Oostanaula. Their convergence forms the Coosa, which snakes its way through Georgia into Alabama. It joins with the Tallapoosa and becomes the Alabama River.  Its final destination is Mobile Bay on the Gulf of Mexico.

Unknown Soldier

This is from the gravestones of the Confederate soldiers at Myrtle Hill Cemetary in Rome, GA. I took this with my new Canon SD 600, and there is some great detail on the stone.

Defiance

I took this at Myrtle Hill Cemetary in Rome the other day. This guy has no regard for any sign that will keep him from enjoying a fine spring day in northwest Georgia.

Rome and Berry College

I took a trip up to Rome on Saturday, and here are a few shots. Rome is the city where I had the pleasure of spending four years of college at Berry College.

This is the famous Rome clock tower, right in the middle of downtown Rome.

These are Confederate gravestones at Myrtle Hill Cemetary in Rome.

The Old Mill at Berry College

I got really lucky on this shot. I caught this snake in the Mountain Reservoir Lake at Berry College.
