The Old, Forgotten House

Live in southeast Georgia for a while and you’ll eventually come across a house that no one wants but everyone accepts. They punctuate the rural areas of the state. I drive by this old place when I get the chance, just to see the bricks in the chimney and rust on the roof.

Hey Jeff. Welcome aboard! I love this photo. It looks like a lot of old houses where I grew up. (In Southeast GA, of course)

I love this photograph. These dot the landscape. In fact, inside many of them, you’ll find the most beautiful wood. We took several from the farm and before taking them down, took out all of the wood. My cousin, Boyd, used them to make hardwood floors in his new house.

Old houses like this if they aren’t going to be preserved are great sources of beautiful wood and even antiques. It is amazing what you’ll find in them. (Big rattlesnakes too which is why more people don’t go in them!)

    Great photo, Jeff!
